 | Wednesday, September 20th, 2028: Rome Halts Hernandez's Hitting Steak
Typhoons left fielder Ben Hernandez went 0-for-3 today in Taipei's 3-1 triumph over the Rome Gladiators, snapping his 21-game hitting streak.
Hernandez spoke to BNN after the game and said, "I knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later. I just would have preferred later."
When he made an out in his last chance at bat, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout.
The Gladiators manager shrugged off the streak. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," he said. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."
In his stats this season, Hernandez has posted a batting average of .308 with 72 hits in 234 at-bats, 5 home runs and 39 RBIs. He has also scored 37 runs, walked 21 times and compiled a .362 OBP.

The Rome Gladiators have finalized a deal with All Star-caliber starting pitcher Ciro Galatti that will extend his stay in Rome at least 3 years and will pay out $20,400,000.
Checking out his stats for the season, Galatti has notched 12 wins and 10 losses in 24 starts, 4.54 ERA and struck out 96 batters in 170.2 innings.
