Havana's Seve Abad put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 2028 Western Hemisphere Silver Slugger.
He scorched the opposition with a .326 average, picking up 206 hits, 20 doubles, 2 triples, 42 home runs and 130 RBIs, while scoring 126 runs, in what many would say has been one of the better seasons of the veteran's career. |

It was a pretty intense fight, so Juergen Roche and Gary Quintal were both suspended today for 8 games for their part in a brawl which happened in a game between the Chicago Blues and the Havana Sugar Kings at McDonald's Field.
Roche said, "Luckily nobody was hurt. I think we both overreacted to the situation."
So far this year Roche has hit .268 with 21 home runs, 72 RBIs and 108 runs scored.
This year Quintal has compiled a 14-9 record with a 4.76 ERA.

It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Western Hemisphere, but last week Michael Fryer of the Havana Sugar Kings reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.
Fryer rocked opposing pitching for a .455 average (10-22), 5 home runs and 14 RBIs to come away with the award.
Fryer's current batting average stands at .323 and he has chalked up 20 home runs and 75 RBIs.
