Breaking News Monday, August 14th, 2028: Barrage of Hits Gets Tavares WH Award His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Aurelio Tavares was rewarded with the Western Hemisphere Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Sao Paulo Bandeirantes third baseman hit .643 while collecting 18 hits in 28 at-bats, 1 home run and 8 RBIs. This year Tavares has collected a .280 batting average to date with 117 hits in 418 at-bats, 59 RBIs, 10 home runs and scored 63 times. He has played in 117 games. Tuesday, August 1st, 2028: Western Hemisphere Names Rookie of Month King Wickman's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Sao Paulo shortstop has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award. During the month he hit .317 with 8 doubles, 1 triple and 1 home run. Wickman also scored 19 times and drove in 10 runs. This season-to-date Wickman has 3 home runs and a .298 batting average. Monday, July 17th, 2028: Sao Paulo Worried Mesa Won't Play Again "Benny Mesa will never play baseball again." Those were the sad and tragic words of his doctors. Mesa, the Bandeirantes starting pitcher, sustained a career-ending injury in yesterday's Sao Paulo-Chicago game at Pele Stadium. He suffered a torn rotator cuff muscle. It happened throwing a pitch.
